BAWDI-KSHETR

The genesis of watershed management in a hot dry water stressed community

One of the best community/ urban infrastructure which existed in the past which has a great performative role. Such Hydraulic Structures withstand tremors and long-lasting dynamic water management solution of the water crisis in its neighbourhood.

WHY IS THE ART OF WATER CONSERVATION ARCHITECTURE LOST IN TODAY’S CONTEXT WHERE PLACES ARE VULNERABLE TO DROUGHTS?

A Well Planned Community incorporating a Joint-Watershed Management mechanism will address to the problem of drought and water supply of the entire community. Hence, BAWDI-KSHETR can not only serve the purpose in a small community but also in urban scale where the water supply and demand has new dimensions and efficient participatory role and management can lead to the development of smart cities using this vernacular approach of stepwells.
