With the development of rural education in China, designers began to think about new models of educational architecture. Under the background of education today, primary education as a beginning of students’ enlightenment needs to be given new meaning. In the countryside, how to meet the self-development and functional renewal of the building and combine the language of Vernacular Architecture and modern needs are main points of this design.

Defferent from urban educational buildings, rural primary schools are in smaller scale and have less needs of development. Therefore, the scale of each individual building should be consistent with the original size of the local building. Local materials and structures are surpposed to be used in the new buildings to protect the cultural identity of the local people.

This design attempts to regard each individual building as a module, providing the possibility of adding new modules appropriately to satisfy the new functions in the future. Education has not been accomplished overnight. With the development of education in rural area, the increasing functions and popularity of students are the main problems. This design leaves enough space for subsequent development in at least 40 years.
